Interaction design, user experience, information architecture, usability, pick your favorite label. The best words I’ve found to describe myself are from John Maeda: all I want to be is someone that makes new things and thinks about them.
I built my first website at age 14 using Netscape Composer. I had my first visceral experience of the importance of usability when I had to use Apple hockey puck mice in a school computer lab. In college I double-majored in computer science and psychology because I couldn’t choose between building cool things and learning how brains work. Then I learned that I didn’t need to, and I’ve never looked back.
I like to write, make music, read nerd books and knit, but mostly what I like best is to sit quietly, think deeply, and learn new things.
